21st Century Bridge to Success

21st Century Bridge to Success is an exciting opportunity at Fairmont that consists of homework help, Language Arts and Mathematics support, snack time, and enrichment clubs. This program is only offered at three schools in New Albany and is funded through the Indiana 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. Because of this, the program is offered free of charge.

The program at Fairmont is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. during the school year. The children receive one hour of small group tutoring in Language Arts and Math by a Fairmont teacher. The second hour is a club enrichment activity that ranges from sports, to arts, music, science and cultural activities. A snack is provided at 2:25 p.m.

Children who participate must show up consistently on Tuesday and Thursday all year. Your school contact is Stephanie Gregory who coordinates the enrollment of students. Mrs. Gregory can be reached at 542-5501. Denise Barber, the project director is also available to answer questions at 542-5503.

Drama

Fairmont has performed a full musical play each year for the last six years and has been recognized by Music Theatre International for the quality of our performances. Students spend many months after school studying dance, voice and acting with local professionals. “Dads with Tools” is a large part of our successful productions which have included, Cinderella, Charlie Brown, Lion King Kids, and Willy Wonka Kids.

International Fête

Each spring, we host an “International Fête” in which classrooms become different countries and students “travel” using their passports to participate in learning activities. Students enjoy participating in a parade of nations as part of the opening ceremonies. Parents share recipes, arts, clothing, and traditions from their native countries. We strongly value the support of our students’ families and continually seek ways to increase our partnerships with parents.
